Serving Communities Beyond the Pulpit in Foya

As Kioo Radio continues to broadcasting the Gospel across Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea, we also remain committed to informing our audience about important issues affecting our communities. On Saturday (May 23, 2026), I had the opportunity to spend the day with the Kioo Radio team covering the visit of the President of Liberia to Foya for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Voinjama to Mendikorma Highway. There was also the launch of the Digital Village initiative under the theme β€œConnecting for a Brighter Future in Foya.” It was encouraging to see development discussions taking place in our region while our team worked hard to keep listeners informed. Christian radio is not only about preaching Christ. It is also about serving communities with truthful, relevant, and timely information that impacts everyday life. Thank you to our partners and friends for continuing to stand with us.

Living the Message Beyond the Microphones

Living the Message Beyond the Microphones

High on the green hills of Betche Hill, something beautiful was taking shape around the Kioo Radio station. What had begun as a broadcasting ministry was blossoming into something deeper a living demonstration of the very messages being shared over the airwaves. The radio team had been discussing agriculture and community development in their programs, sharing practical wisdom alongside spiritual encouragement. But recently, they decided their impact shouldn't stop when the microphones switched off. Around the station grounds, neat rows of corn began reaching toward the sky. Peanut plants spread their green leaves across the red soil. Tomatoes grew heavy on carefully tended vines. This wasn't just gardening it was what staff members called "Off Air Radio." The same voices that spoke hope into homes across Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea were now demonstrating that hope with their own hands. When they talked about God's provision, listeners could see the evidence growing right outside the studio walls. The message wasn't just heard anymore; it was lived. Visitors to the station often marveled at the sight. Here was a team that understood ministry in its fullest sense not just words over the airwaves, but actions that backed up every broadcast. The garden became a testament to faithful stewardship, showing the surrounding community that the Gospel transforms not just hearts, but also the way people approach daily life and work. Even the simple act of growing food became a sermon about God's faithfulness and the blessing that comes from putting faith into action. Thank you for taking the time to read about how this ministry continues to grow and impact lives in practical ways. Please keep the Kioo Radio team in your prayers as they serve their community both on and off the air. "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8

Divine Timing Brings Radio Ministry to Recovering Mother

Divine Timing Brings Radio Ministry to Recovering Mother

In the quiet village of Quessemba in Kolahun District, Mary Jallah had always carried a deep desire in her heart. As a devoted mother and active member of The Free Pentecostal Church in Kpandi, she longed to pass on important spiritual lessons to her children. She wanted to fill their home with wisdom and guidance that would shape their young hearts, but sometimes found herself searching for the right words and teachings to share. When illness struck Mary recently, those difficult days brought both physical weakness and spiritual reflection. During her recovery, she made a heartfelt promise to God. Once she regained her strength, she would purchase a radio so she could regularly listen to God's Word in her home. This commitment came from a deep hunger for spiritual nourishment and her desire to stay connected to her faith, especially during the challenging period of sickness. The timing of what happened next left Mary amazed at God's perfect coordination. Just as she was recovering from her illness and preparing to fulfill her promise, news came that SonSet radios would be distributed in her community through Kioo Radio's ministry. What she had planned to purchase became a gift freely given, arriving at the exact moment she felt ready to receive it. Mary recognized this as more than mere coincidence. The divine timing filled her with gratitude as she saw God's hand bringing the radio ministry to Quessemba precisely when she needed it most. Her personal promise and the radio distribution had aligned in a way that spoke directly to her heart about God's faithfulness and care for her family. Now, with her SonSet radio playing daily in her home, Mary experiences the unexpected blessing she had yearned for. The programs that fill her house address the very wisdom she had longed to share with her little ones. The teachings and advice shared through the broadcasts speak directly to her heart and mirror her own parental guidance, as if the radio is helping her fulfill her calling as a mother. The constant encouragement flowing through the programming strengthens Mary's faith while supporting her in guiding her children. Each day brings new spiritual nourishment that deepens her own walk with God while providing the wisdom-filled atmosphere she had dreamed of creating in her home. Through this gift of radio ministry, Mary sees God's provision not only for her personal spiritual growth but for her entire family's journey of faith. Thank you for taking the time to read Mary's story of God's perfect timing and provision. Please keep her and her family in your prayers as they continue to grow in faith together through the ministry of Kioo Radio. "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." β€” Philippians 4:19

A Muslim Elder Opens Her Heart to God's Word

A Muslim Elder Opens Her Heart to God's Word

In the quiet village of Quessemba, nestled in the Gbandi chiefdom, an unexpected conversation unfolded that revealed the mysterious ways God's word travels across hearts and cultures. Mr. James Korha, who had been helping distribute SonSet radios throughout the region, approached MaVannie, an elderly woman who had once served as town chief. Her weathered hands and gentle demeanor spoke of years of leadership and wisdom in her community. Mr. Korha hesitated as he offered her one of the radios, knowing her faith background. "You're a Muslim," he said carefully, "and this radio is programmed to play only Christian programs." Without missing a beat, MaVannie looked him in the eyes and replied with quiet conviction: "It's God's word and I don't care, I'll listen." Her response carried the weight of a life that had taken many turns. Years earlier, while living in Monrovia, MaVannie had attended church and known the Christian faith. But when the war forced her to return to her village in Lofa County, she married a Muslim man and embraced his Islamic practices. For years, she faithfully followed the prayers and rituals of Islam, even after her husband passed away, continuing in the faith that had become part of her daily rhythm. Now, as MaVannie cradles the small radio that will fill her home with Christian programming from Kioo Radio 98.1 FM, there's a sense that God is working in ways only He can orchestrate. Her openness to hearing His word, regardless of the source, suggests a heart that remains tender toward divine truth. The radio signals that travel across the Makona River Region carry more than just broadcasts, they carry hope for spiritual homecoming and the gentle persistence of God's love reaching across all boundaries. Thank you for taking the time to read MaVannie's story. Please keep her in your prayers as she listens to God's word through Kioo Radio, and remember the faithful partners like SonSet Solutions who make this ministry possible. "So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." β€” Isaiah 55:11

Community Gathers in Prayer for Radio Ministry

Community Gathers in Prayer for Radio Ministry

The morning sun was just beginning to filter through the trees around Kioo Radio 98.1 FM when members of Hope International Ministry arrived at the station in Foya, Liberia. It was March 21, 2025, and they had come with a single purpose: to lift up the radio station, its leadership, and its partners in prayer. As the small group gathered in the station's modest facilities, there was something deeply moving about their presence. These weren't employees or board members fulfilling an obligation. They were community members who had been touched by the station's ministry and felt compelled to give back through prayer. Their faces reflected genuine care and concern for the work that went out over the airwaves each day. The prayer time revealed something beautiful about the relationship between Kioo Radio and the communities it serves. Rather than seeing themselves as mere listeners, these believers understood themselves to be partners in the ministry. They prayed earnestly for wisdom for the station's leadership, for the technical equipment to continue functioning well, and for the broadcasts to reach hearts that needed hope. Their petitions carried the weight of people who had personally experienced the station's impact. This gathering demonstrated a profound truth about community-supported ministry. When radio programming consistently offers hope, healing, and spiritual nourishment, listeners naturally develop a sense of ownership and investment. The station becomes more than a voice from distant transmitters, it becomes part of the community's spiritual fabric. The members of Hope International Ministry weren't just supporting a radio station; they were investing in their neighbors' spiritual well-being. As the prayer session concluded, there was a palpable sense of unity and shared mission. The station's work would continue with the knowledge that faithful intercessors were lifting up every broadcast, every decision, and every opportunity to touch lives across the Makona River Region. Thank you for taking the time to read about this beautiful expression of community support. Please keep these faithful prayer warriors and the entire Kioo Radio ministry in your prayers as they continue serving together. "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people." β€” Ephesians 6:18

A Portrait of Connection in Baa Town
πŸ“ Baa Town, Waum, Foyaβ€’Apr 20, 2026

A Portrait of Connection in Baa Town

In the rolling hills of Baa Town, nestled within the Waum Administrative District, Ms. Kumba Tamba had grown accustomed to the silence that often settled over her community when evening fell. News traveled slowly here, and families gathered around flickering oil lamps to share the day's happenings by word of mouth. But that began to change when Mr. Kebbie and the Kioo Radio team arrived with something precious: Sonset radios that would bring voices of hope and vital information directly into homes. During the radio distribution event, Ms. Kumba stepped forward to receive her radio with quiet dignity. The team noticed her gentle spirit and asked if they could photograph her with her new radio. She agreed, perhaps not knowing that this simple moment would become something much more meaningful. The camera captured not just her image, but the anticipation in her eyesβ€”the look of someone about to be connected to a wider world of encouragement and community. Weeks later, when the Kioo Radio team made their follow-up visit to Baa Town, they carried with them a printed portrait of Ms. Kumba. Hand-delivering the photograph to her doorstep, they watched as her face lit up with surprise and joy. It was more than just a picture; it was tangible proof that she mattered, that her story was worth remembering, and that the radio ministry saw her as more than just another recipient of equipment. This simple act of returning with her portrait reflected Kioo Radio's deeper commitment to genuine relationship rather than mere broadcasting. In a world where technology can feel impersonal, the team chose to honor Ms. Kumba's participation in their mission by creating something she could hold and treasure. Now, when she turns on her Sonset radio each evening, she hears not just programming, but the voices of people who took time to know her name and value her presence in their ministry. Thank you for taking the time to read about Ms. Kumba's story and the faithful work happening in communities like Baa Town. Please keep her and the Kioo Radio ministry team in your prayers as they continue building these precious connections across the region. "So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another." β€” Romans 12:5

Blind Listener Calls Kioo Radio 'Radio Life'
πŸ“ Fornin, Foyah, Liberiaβ€’Apr 20, 2026

Blind Listener Calls Kioo Radio 'Radio Life'

When the Kioo Radio team arrived in the town of Fornin for their community visit, they were greeted by Mr. Fayiah Johnson, a faithful listener whose gratitude filled the room. Despite being blind, Mr. Johnson had found something precious through the station's broadcasts – a new life in Christ that had transformed his world in ways sight never could. As the team sat with him, Mr. Johnson shared how deeply the station had impacted his life and the lives of countless others in his community. He spoke with conviction about how Kioo Radio's continuous Christian programming had become a beacon of hope for those seeking meaning and purpose. The station's commitment to sharing Christ's message around the clock had created an atmosphere where transformation seemed not just possible, but inevitable. 'Today, I want to call this station Radio Life because the programs that are broadcast continuously give us life,' Mr. Johnson declared, his words carrying the weight of personal experience. He explained how the station's focus on Christ made it nearly impossible for listeners to remain unchanged, unless they deliberately chose to turn away from the message of salvation and redemption being offered. Mr. Johnson's testimony reflects a broader movement happening throughout the Makona River Region, where Kioo Radio's broadcasts continue to touch hearts and transform lives. His gratitude extended beyond his own experience to encompass all those who support the station's mission, recognizing that behind every life changed through Christ stands a community of believers committed to sharing the Gospel. Through listeners like Mr. Johnson, the station's impact ripples outward, bringing hope and new life to communities across Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea.

When Prayers Crossed Borders for Peace

When Prayers Crossed Borders for Peace

When tensions flared along the Makona River between Guinea and Liberia, fear gripped the hearts of families on both sides of the border. Reports of soldiers crossing into Foya, Lofa County sent ripples of anxiety through communities that had long shared the same river, the same markets, and often the same extended families. Rather than wade into political commentary, Kioo Radio chose a different path. Station leaders reached out to pastors across all three nations served by their signal – Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. The invitation was simple but powerful: come together on the airwaves to pray for peace and unity in the region. As voices from different countries joined in prayer over the radio waves, something beautiful began to unfold. In the days following those broadcast prayers, local pastors in Foya felt moved to gather and continue interceding for their region. Word spread quickly through the Christian community, and soon a delegation of prominent Christian leaders from across Liberia made the journey to Foya. Their mission was clear: to stand in the gap and pray for lasting peace between the neighboring nations. The visiting Christian leaders eventually made their way to Kioo Radio's studios, where they prayed live on air, their voices carrying across the very borders where tension had so recently threatened to divide. As their prayers echoed through the Makona River Region, listeners on all sides of the borders heard the same message of hope, reconciliation, and God's desire for His people to live in harmony. The power of unified prayer had transformed a moment of potential conflict into an opportunity for spiritual breakthrough. Thank you for taking the time to read about how God moved in response to faithful prayer during a tense moment in our region. Please keep the people of the Makona River area and this ministry of reconciliation in your prayers as we continue to seek peace across all borders. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." β€” Matthew 5:9
